Most weight lifted by barbell upright: Robert Natoli sets world record

OSWEGO, N.Y., USA--Oswego businessman and author Robert Natoli, 56, lifted 51,640 pounds by barbell in a one-hour - setting the new world record for the most weight lifted by barbell upright in one hour, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com), while raising money for the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service.

Natoli lifted 51,640 pounds by barbell in a one-hour period, shattering the existing record of 40,752.5 pounds held by Ireland's Eamonn Keane. To do so, he lifted about 40 pounds more than 1,360 times.

The Guinness world record for the most weight lifted by dumbbell front raises in one hour was 18,016.69 kg (39,720 lb) by Robert Natoli (USA) in Oswego, New York, USA
.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most weight lifted by arm curls in one hour: 60,019 lb (27,224.16 kg), set by Robert Natoli (USA) in Oswego, New York, USA, on 12 May 2011. Natoli performed 116 sets using a 47 lb (21.32 kg) bar, with repetitions ranging from 8-15 throughout the attempt.

Natoli used the event as an opportunity to raise money for the Syracuse VA Medical Center to buy televisions, wheelchairs and other items for veterans with disabilities.
He is not sure yet how much he raised, but he did donate $2,000 of his own money to the cause.

According to "The Post-Standard" Natoli, 56, is a grandfather of one, owns Timebuyer Auto and wrote a book, "True Vision 4 Success."

He said this new world record was quite a challenge.

"I did one rep at a time, one minute at a time," he said.

"But this is how anyone can tackle anything. People in debt can eliminate it one dollar at a time, pay off one credit card at a time. People losing weight can lose one pound at a time. It's a very similar thing."
