    Most marathons run on consecutive days: Alice Burch breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

   
LONDON, UK -- Alice Burch, 34, from Ashurst, Hampshire, has run 60 marathons in 60 consecutive days (1,560 miles in two months); she smashed the current official Guinness World Record of 17 consecutive marathons run by a woman and 52 by a man,
setting the new world record for the Most marathons run on consecutive days, according to the World Record Academy.

  The Guinness World Records' record for the most marathons run on consecutive days by a female is 17 and was achieved by Iranian-born Parvaneh Moayedi (US), who completed all 17 marathons between 21st December 2012 and 6 January 2013 in various races held across Texas, USA.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most consecutive editions of the same World Marathon Majors marathon completed in under three hours; it is 30 and was achieved by Chris Finill (UK) at the London Marathon from 29 March 1981 to 25 April 2010.

 
    Alice Burch, 34, ran 1,560 miles as part of her gruelling challenge - equivalent to the distance between London and Gibraltar.

   Despite suffering severe pain in her ankles, calves and hips, she smashed the current official Guinness World Record of 17 consecutive marathons run by a woman and 52 by a man.

    Alice, of Ashurst, New Forest, Hants, had to finish one marathon on crutches after suffering an injury in the first week of her challenge. Her average time was five hours, but some marathons took as long as seven hours due to injuries.

    Alice started her self-imposed challenge to raise money for working animal charity Spana. She has so far raised around £3,000 and is hoping to raise as much as £60,000.

    Alice, who lives in Woodlands with her three-yearold daughter, Lois, said: "I want to look back at 2015 and think, that year was epic and I really did my best. I started this purely because I said I would and I'm that stubborn that I had to carry on going, I just had this determination to see it through to the end."
