The Guinness World Records' record for the longest continuous wakeboarding marathon is 6 hr 42 min and was achieved by Chad Dumble (Australia) who wakeboarded behind a cable tow at Bli Bli Wake Park in Bli Bli, Queensland, Australia, on 9 October 2014. Distance covered during the attempt was 214.4 km (133.22).
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the greatest distance wakeboarding in 24 hours by a team; it is 819.49 km (509.2 mi) by Neill Barker, Nick Binkley, Adam Errington, Tony Finn, Tom Fooshee, Pete Kennedy, Mike Olson, Jimmy Redmon, Brian Wheeler and Amber Wing (all USA) at Wake Nation Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, from 25-26 June 2010.
The British wakeboarder rode non-stop for seven hours, four minutes and 27 seconds, at Box End Park, in Bedford, England.
He started his adventure at 6am, on the 7th August, 2015.
Gray raised funds for Cancer Research UK. His 54-year-old father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The young wakeboarder had to eat and drink while riding in the cable park.
Mr Gray said the challenge, which took place at Box End Park Lake in Kempston, was "incredibly tough".
During the challenge, he kept his strength up with a special diet including malt loaf, sweets and energy gels. He said: "My arms and legs have never hurt as much as they hurt right now.
James was towed at 31 kilometers per hour across the lake, and he had the support of more than 150 spectators. In the end, he raised over £8,500 for Cancer Research UK.
