The Guinness world record for the most sandcastles built in one hour is 683 and was achieved by Yorkshire Water (UK) in Scarborough, Yorkshire, UK.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the tallest sand sculpture: 22.43 meters (73 ft 7 in), achieved at the 12th Gotone China Zhoushan International Sand Sculpture Festival in Zhujiajian, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, China.
According to Ken Munroe, president of the Ocean County board of directors, the sandcastles — which were required to be 2 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and have four seven-inch turrets on top – were verified by a panel of on-site judges.
"What a celebration of the 15th anniversary of this organization," said Sue Sedevic, CEO of the Ocean County chapter. "It brought the 'bigs' and 'littles' together to do something special to make people aware of our services and let them know how important this work is."
