Most Expensive Pet Wedding: NYC Dog wedding sets world record (VIDEO)

NEW YORK, NY, USA -- Baby Hope Diamond, a tiny Coton de Tulear, married Chilly Pasternak, a tie-dye poodle, in the $250000 ceremony, which helped raise awareness for the Humane Society of New York and also sets
the new world record for the Most Expensive Pet Wedding, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

"I know, how goofy is this?" said Wendy Diamond, the pet expert and TV personality throwing the wedding for Baby Hope, her adopted rescue dog. "But it's for an amazing cause."

The Guinness world record for the Most married Hollywood stars was set by Lana Turner (1920 - 1995), Mickey Rooney (b. 23 Sept 1922), Zsa Zsa Gabor (b. 6 Feb 1917), Elizabeth Taylor (b. 27 February 1932 - d. 23 March 2011) and Georgia Holt, have each married eight times.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Most expensive wedding cake slice, set by a box containing a piece of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor's 1937 wedding cake; it sold at Sotheby's, New York, USA for $29,900 (£18,163) to Benjamin and Amanda Yin of San Francisco, USA.

Baby Hope, a white Coton de Tulear with black-gray markings, is a rescue dog adopted by television celebrity and animal rights activist Wendy Diamond.

She was led down the aisle by a dapper poodle named Chilly Pasternak from Richmond, Virginia, who didn't seem too excited about the whole affair but, nevertheless, went along with the ceremony.

They were united by online voters, who chose Chilly in a competition set up by Diamond.

No expense was spared for the black-tie gala, held at the Jumeirah Essex House Hotel at Central Park.

The "dream team" included a celebrity wedding planner, a "lighting guru" with experience at major museums, and highly touted chefs for the reception, to name just a few. Since the guests came from more than one species, a company co-owned by Ellen DeGeneres provided a pet food buffet.

Their glittering affair, which included a $6,000 wedding dress (more than Mark Zuckerberg's wife's dress), a $5,000 sushi spread, and a $15,000 orchestra, held at the Jumeirah Essex House Hotel in New York City, won the World Record for the most expensive pet wedding ever.

The luxury goods and services that went into the wedding were all donated. Guests bought tickets for the Manhattan fundraiser.

The two will serve as spokespooches for animal activist Wendy Diamond's charity, Animal Fair, which she founded in honor of her first rescue dog, Lucky. The Maltese, which had her own World Record for the animal most photographed with celebrities, died of cancer last month.

Event planner Harriette Rose Katz, who has designed parties for Billy Baldwin and Cheyenne Phillips, organized the luxurious affair.

Florists who once worked for Bill Clinton created flowering decorations. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog emceed. Buddy Valastro of TLC's reality show "Cake Boss" made the cake.

Wedding vendors donated their services so that the $250-per-ticket proceeds could all go to the Lucky Diamond Critical Care Ward at the Humane Society of New York.
