Longest Ferris Wheel ride: Christina Lochmiller breaks world record
SACRAMENTO, CA, USA -- After riding a Ferris wheel for 26 hours, 43 minutes and 46 seconds, at the California State Fair, Christina Lochmiller, a 32-year-old from Roseville, Calif., near Sacramento, broke the World Record for the longest consecutive Ferris Wheel ride,

The Guinness world record for the longest marathon riding a fairground attraction is 25 hours and 30 seconds and was achieved by Gus Martinez (USA) at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, California.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Longest ride- Mechanical Rodeo, set by Nigel Medley (Australia), who rode a mechanical rodeo for 2 min 15 sec at the Pub With No Beer, Taylors Arm, New South Wales, Australia.
"I'm pretty tired," Lochmiller told the Modesto Bee after exiting the ride at the California State Fair in Sacramento at around 8:58 a.m Tuesday. "I had a couple of breakdowns where I felt like a 2- year-old who needed a nap."
Lochmiller stayed awake the entire 26 hours and only had a break from the repetitive circular ride every hour for five minutes during which she used the restroom, had her vitals checked or stretched out to relieve pains in her back that came from sitting on the ride's hard seat, the Bee reports.
"I needed to stay confident that I could do it," she said. "I had to remind myself that there was an end in sight."
Lochmiller pursued the goal in honor of her best friend's daughter, Abby, who has struggled with congenital heart disease since birth.
Members of the public made donations to UC Davis Children's Hospital in order to ride with Lochmiller during the record-breaking 26 hours, 43 minutes and 46 seconds.
In total, Lochmiller raised more than $4,000 for the children's hospital.
"Breaking the record was a lot harder than I thought it would be," Lochmiller told the Press Tribune, adding that she used no caffeine during the ride. "I met so many people and got to hear a lot of personal stories about why this mission was important," she said.
