Longest birthday: Sven Hagemeier breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

HONOLULU, HI, USA -- A German man has set a World record for the longest birthday ever after he managed to stretch his special day to 46 hours by crossing between different time zones; over the course of 46 hours, Sven flew from Auckland (New Zealand), to Brisbane (Australia) and then to Honolulu (Hawaii), achieving a record for the longest birthday ever,
according to the World Record Academy.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest gathering of people with the same birthday was achieved by 228 people, all born on 4 July, at an event organised by Stichting Apenheul (Netherlands) in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, on 4 July 2012.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most birthday greetings videos received; it is 10,754 and was achieved by Kinder Niespodzianka (Poland). The videos were collected from all over Poland between 7 September and 11 November 2012. Most people in the videos sang "Sto Lat" a traditional polish birthday song to Kinder Niespodzianka and some sang the song "Happy Birthday" in English.

Sven Hagemeier kept his birthday going for almost two days by crossing between different time zones.

Sven's elongated birthday celebrations beat the previous Guinness World Records world record set by Nargis Bhimji of Karachi, who celebrated her birthday for 35 hours 25 minutes by crossing time zones after flying from Karachi to Singapore and then to San Francisco back in June 1998.

The birthday-boy spent the majority of two days in an aeroplane enjoying plane food and working out how to stay comfortable on long-haul flights.

Sven's extended-birthday highlight was landing in Hawaii at midnight, with the knowledge that he had successfully set the record.
