Most People Dressed as Superman: Nexen staff set world record (Video) CALGARY, Alberta, Canada -- In a way for raising funds for raising funds for a noble cause, 437 Nexen Inc. staff were dressed in superhero costumes to attract people - and set the new world record for the Most People Dressed as Superman, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

The previous Guinness world record for the largest gathering of "Supermen" was achieved by 288 participants at an event organised by Cuchulainn Gaels (Ireland) in Omeath, County Louth, Ireland.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest Superman dance was achieved by 282 participants from MEC UK (UK) during a GWR Live! event at the World Trade Centre, Barcelona, Spain.
In a way for raising funds for raising funds for a noble cause, the employees of Nexen, were dressed in superhero costumes to attract people and break the Guinness world record for the "Most People Dressed as Superman".
The campaign was called `Be a superhero'. It was a drive to make people aware that they need to do their part for charities, in order to be helpful members of the society.
In order to be counted in the record attempt, each costume had to have: a full body cover outfit in blue, red underpants over the blue outfit, an S on the chest in red and yellow, a yellow belt, red boots or full boot covers in red, and a red cape.
Each staff member paid for a portion of their costume with a partial subsidy from Nexen.
Many staff members from the energy firm came to be a part of the event and finally succeeded in breaking the world record.
"We wanted to show what can be accomplished when people support a great cause and put their best effort into making their community a better place to live. You can succeed, inspire others and have a a lot of fun," said Pierre Alvarez, Vice President Corporate Relations for Nexen.
"Now the real work begins. Nexen's United Way campaign is officially underway and we want to increase participation and funds raised."
