  Most choreographed mass plaza dancers: China breaks Guinness World Records record
   
   BEIJING, China -- More than 31,000 Chinese participants have set a record for mass plaza dancing in multiple locations; some 31,697 people in Beijing, Shanghai and four other cities set the new mark by performing choreographed dance moves together for more than five minutes, thus setting the new world record for Most choreographed mass plaza dancers at multiple locations, according to the World Record Academy.

 The Guinness World Records world record for the most backing dancers to a singer was achieved by 546 participants who performed a routine for the singer Heather Small at an event organised by Pro-Excel (UK) at Twickenham Stadium, Twickenham, UK, on 23 April 2011.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest single line of dancers consists of 4,395 people and was achieved by Executive Committee of Takarazuka 10,000 People Line Dancing (Japan) at Mukogawa River, in Takarazuka, Hyogo, Japan, on 1 November 2014.


    Some 31,697 people in Beijing, Shanghai and four other cities set the new mark by performing choreographed dance moves together for more than five minutes.

    Generally middle-aged and elderly women, such dancers are a common site in parks, plazas and other public spaces in Chinese cities.

    While considered a healthy way to exercise and socialize, the performances have sometimes drawn criticism from those living nearby over the loud music accompanying the moves.
