The previous Guinness world record for the most people dressed as sunflowers was 116 set at The Nursery on the Green in London, UK.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people dressed as Robin Hood: 1,119 at Castle Green, Nottingham, UK.
The previous world record was set on July 5, 2011, when hundreds of people threw over 600 pounds of marshmallows at the annual Ocean Beach Marshmallow Fight in Ocean Beach, California.
The world record event asked all participants to donate $2.00 to cover the cost of marshmallows and to donate to the Utah Food Bank and the American Red Cross.
All participants were asked to wear protective eyewear and to remove their shoes prior to the event, before being separated by a "no-man's-land" of 20 feet on the school's field, per record-setting rules.
The marshmallows were provided at a discounted rate by Fresh Market of Taylorsville, Western Family and Associated Foods of Utah.
Eisenhower Junior High School has broken several world records in the past 25 years, including the World's Largest Pan Loaf of Bread, World's Longest Paper Clip Chain, World's Fastest Human Conveyor Belt, World's Longest Balloon Chain in One Hour, World's Tallest Ice Cream Cone.
