The Guinness World Records world record for the e largest straw hat measures 6.65 m (21 ft 9 in) in diameter and is 2.6 m (8 ft 6 in) high. The hat was made by Atalia Bis & Partners Company in Kozieglowy, Poland, and measured in August 2006.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people simultaneously throwing hats; it is 9,995 and was achieved by Coordinadora de Peñas de Valladolid (Spain) in Valladolid, Spain, on 1 September 2013.
The shopping centre worked with a design firm to create the mosaic, which covered almost 5,000 square feet, The Calgary Herald reports.
North Hill Centre's record breaks a title previously held by a large-scale mosaic made of baseball caps in Berlin. The effort was also tied in with a good cause.
A campaign called Hats Off for CF raised more than $5,000 for cystic fibrosis through Smithbilt hat sales in the mall.
