Largest Tug Of War Tournament - world record set
by Inner Mongolia
Ordos City, China -- 1280 competitors from
128 teams attended a tug of war competiton during the Ordos
International Nadam Fair in Jungar Banner, north China's Inner
Mongolia Autonomous Region - setting
the new world record for the Largest

A total of 128 teams from local enterprises
and government institutions in the Junggar Banner took part
in the World's
Largest Tug Of War Tournament . After more than three
hours' competition, a new world record was set, declared Wu
Xiaohong, a notary for Guinness World Records.
The World's
Largest Tug Of War Tournament was organized by the
Ordos International Nadam Fair, which had already broken the
record for the longest human domino line on 12 August 2010.
Tug of war, also known as tug o' war, tug
war, rope war or rope pulling, is a sport that directly pits
two teams against each other in a test of strength.
The contest of pulling on the rope originates
from ancient ceremonies and rituals. The sport is played almost
in every country in the world.
The Tug of War International Federation
(TWIF), organises World Championships for nation teams biannually,
for both indoor and outdoor contests, and a similar competition
for club teams.
