The Guinness world record for the Most prolific video game character was set by Mario, created by Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, in Kyoto, Japan, in 1981. Mario has appeared in 207 distinct titles including remakes and re-releases.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the highest score on Asteroids (Atari, 1979) is 41,838,740, achieved by John McAllister (USA), who played for 58 hours in an attempt verified by Twin Galaxies.
The World's Largest Outdoor Pong Game is to be featured during the city's annual "City Lights" event and a traditional tree-lighting ceremony.
The south side of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown will serve as the "screen" for the largest Pong game in the world.
"This will be a holiday lighting ceremony like nothing you've ever seen," said Mike Hurd, marketing director for the Downtown Council and member of the City Lights organizing committee.
"We are working with Atari, who is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original Pong, in an attempt to set the World Record for the world's largest Pong game."
