Tallest stack of pancakes: Center Parcs breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)
London, UK -- Sherwood Forest Center Parcs has broken the Guinness World Record title for the tallest stack of pancakes; the record, which was previously held by Netherlands-based theme park Efteling, was set at the holiday resort's The Pancake House restaurant, beating the previous record of 91.2cm with a flipping fantastic 101.8cm, according to the World Record Academy. The Guinness World Records world record for the most people tossing pancakes is 890 and was achieved at an event organised by the University of Sheffield (UK), in Sheffield, UK, on 15 February, 2012.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most pancakes made in eight hours is 76,382 achieved by Batter BlasterTM LLC (USA) at Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta, USA, on 9 May 2009. A total of 175 volunteers cooked the pancakes and served approximately 20,000 people.
Center Parcs Sherwood Forest in Rufford, Newark, UK has racked up a mouth-watering World Record title for the Tallest stack of pancakes.
The record, which was previously held by Netherlands-based theme park Efteling, was set at the holiday resort's The Pancake House restaurant, beating the previous record of 91.2cm with a flipping fantastic 101.8cm.
The stack consisted of 213 pancakes, made up of 14 bags of flour, 700 eggs and 26 pints of milk.
Center Parcs' group executive chef, James Haywood, and executive sous chef, Dave Nicholls, assembled the pancakes into a freestanding structure over a nerve-jangling 45 minutes, with the overall verification boiling down to the final five seconds, when the structure was required to stand unsupported.
Following the win, the masterpiece was dismantled to create 35 smaller stacks, which were paired with a range of toppings and handed out to guests at The Pancake House restaurant at Center Parcs Sherwood Forest, where the record was broken.
