Most cakes sold in eight hours: Kitchener breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)
KITCHENER, ON, Canada -- Local community running club The Running Rarebits executed the World's Biggest Bake Sale, selling 14,534 baked goods in an 8 hour period and raising over $14,350 for charity; Over 150 bakers and local bakeries donated their time and skills to bake up amazing treats for the big day; over 50 volunteers stepped in to package, label and sell treats while others helped with event logistics, the event setting the new world record for the Most cakes sold in eight hours,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness World Records' record for the most cakes sold in eight hours is 14,534 and was achieved by Maria Michel, Chris Mintz and the Running Rarebits (all Canada) at The Boardwalk, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, on 31 May 2014. They raised a total of $14,390.75 and 100% of the money collected went to the Rotary Club of Kitchener Grand River.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest line of cakes; it measured
885.6 m (2,905 ft 6.07 in) and was achieved by BBC Gloucestershire Children in Need (UK) in Gloucestershire, UK, on 14 November 2014.
The previous Guinness World Records' record for most cakes sold in eight hours was 13,085 , achieved in 2013 at Grand Central Station in New York City.

100% of the profits from the bake sale are donated to the Kitchener Grand River Rotary to distribute to their supported charities and local organizations.
Over 150 bakers and local bakeries donated their time and skills to bake up amazing treats for the big day. Over 50 volunteers stepped in to package, label and sell treats over the weekend while others helped with event logistics to make sure they met Guinness World Record's reporting requirements.
