Longest Cornish pasty: world record set in Real Del Monte (VIDEO)
Real Del Monte, Mexico -- Mineral del Monte, also called Real del Monte, which is twinned with Redruth, (UK), is located in the central Mexican state of Hidalgo and is known for its rich mining past; to celebrate the pasty - or paste as it is known in Real del Monte - becoming recognised as part of its cultural culinary heritage, the town has baked a 12ft pasty which sets the new world record for the Longest Cornish pasty, according to the World Record Academy.

The 12ft pasty might not be made to the traditional Cornish recipe and may contain a few chillies, but no-one will fault the people of Real del Monte for celebrating their Cornish heritage in such a remarkable fashion.
The monster pasty was unveiled during the town's annual Festival Del Paste.
It did take 10 men to carry the giant pasty (paste) through the town as part of Real del Monte's annual pasty festival.
According to the town's history, in the 1830s and 1840s, up to 350 Cornish miners were working in the surrounding mines in the Mexican town 120 km north east of Mexico City.
