  Largest Jar of Spread: University of Illinois breaks Guinness World Records' record

 
Champaign, IL, USA -- The University of Illinois now holds the record for the World's Largest Jar of Spread; the jar measured 143 centimeters, or 4.691 feet,
setting the new world record for the Largest Jar of Spread, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.
 The World's Largest Jar of Tomato Spread, which is vegan, featured local produce, including more than 1,000 pounds of tomatoes from the on-campus Student Sustainable Farm. Other ingredients included peaches, beet sugar, local balsamic vinegar, and water. The Laregst Jar of Tomato Spread in the World contained 26,880 one-tablespoon servings.

   The Guinness World Recods' record for the largest jar of spread measures 1.43 m (4 ft 8.2 in) and was prepared by the University of Illinois (USA) in Champaign, Illinois, USA.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest jar of liquor; it was filled with 368 liters (80.95 UK gal; 97.22 US gal) of liquor and was unveiled by Golden Tourism Group (China) at Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, China.


  
Nutella no longer holds the Guinness World Records' record for largest container of spread — the title now belongs to the University of Illinois for the largest jar of tomato spread.

   More than 1,100 pounds of peaches and 1,250 pounds of tomatoes were used from the Sustainable Student Farm and other local producers.

  Food preparation was spread over three days, and sugar, water and balsamic vinegar were added to enhance the flavor.

   University Housing employees and several onlooking students poured five-gallon buckets into the 4.6 foot tall container on the Ikenberry Commons Quad.

   The tomato spread, which is vegan, featured local produce, including more than 1,000 pounds of tomatoes from the on-campus Student Sustainable Farm. Other ingredients included peaches, beet sugar, local balsamic vinegar, and water.

   After being divided in batches of twenty servings each, the record-breaking spread will be transported in portions to all of the University's dining halls in hopes that people can actually taste and enjoy the University's success.

   In 2011, the University of Illinois created the world's largest smoothie; in 2012 the University of Illinois broke the Guinness World Records' record for the greatest number of people simultaneously husking corn; and in 2013 the University of Illinois created the world's largest serving of salsa.
