  Largest granola bar: UC Santa Cruz breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

  
SANTA CRUZ, CA, USA -- For 70 minutes, chefs along with volunteers worked to mold the granola into a singular granola bar that spanned the length of the room and back; by the numbers, the recipe required 50 pounds of oatmeal, 20 pounds of diced almonds, 15 pounds of peanuts, 60 pounds of honey, 30 pounds of brown sugar and more than 20 pounds of cranberries and golden raisins. The final length of the bar came out to 420 feet,

  The Guinness World Records' record for the largest full breakfast attendance involved 51,793 participants and was organised by Van Ticaret ve Sanayi Odasi (Turkey) at Atatürk Kültür Park, in Van, Turkey, on 1 June 2014.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest cereal breakfast; it was attended by 1,423 participants and was achieved by St Patrick's College (Australia) in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, on 20 September 2013.

   For 70 minutes, chefs along with volunteers worked to mold the granola into a singular granola bar that spanned the length of the room and back, The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports.

   Volunteers were attendees of the National Association of College & University Food Services conference at UCSC.

   By the numbers, the recipe required 50 pounds of oatmeal, 20 pounds of diced almonds, 15 pounds of peanuts, 60 pounds of honey, 30 pounds of brown sugar and more than 20 pounds of cranberries and golden raisins.

   The final length of the bar came out to 420 feet, shattering the original plan of 300 feet.
