  Largest Tiramisu: Italian town breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

   
GEMONA, Italy -- The northern Italian town of Gemona has set the record for the largest Tiramisù in culinary history; weighing in at 3,015 kilos, the giant coffee-flavoured dessert beats the previous Guinness World Records record set in March by over 1,000 kilos,
according to the World Record Academy.

  The Guinness World Records' record for the largest Tiramisu weighs 1,969 kg (4,340 lb 14.4 oz) and was prepared by The Gulf Hotel (Bahrain), in Manama, Bahrain, on 31 March 2015. The cake had a length of 30 m.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest chocolate truffle; it weighted 802 Kg (1,768 lb 11 oz) and was achieved by Mirco Della Vecchia, Andrea Andrighetti, Rimini Fiera, Fabbri 1905, Icam and Martellato (all Italy) at the Sigep Fair in Rimini, Italy on 21 January 2012. The ingredients used for the chocolate truffle were: dark chocolate 1,000 Kg (2,204 lb 62 oz); amarena cherries 200 kg (440 lb 92 oz); cream 200 kg (440 lbs 92 oz). The chocolate truffle measured 1 m in height with a circumference of 50 cm long.

    Around 200 people, including 30 pastry chefs from across the local area helped to make the creamy dessert on Saturday, which consisted of 250 trays of Tiramisù, The Local reported.

     The dish was made as part of a competition among local shopkeepers in the town, organized by the Conserva association.

   The project was sponsored by several local businesses, including local cake shops in the region. Around 20,000 people came to watch as a crane was used to weigh the Tiramisù, before tucking in to the dessert.
