Largest milkshake: Staffordshire YFC breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

LONDON, UK -- Members of Staffordshire Young Farmers Clubs have broken the Guinness World Records world record for the largest cup of milkshake; the members from across the Staffordshire clubs were scrutinised by four independent witnesses as they mixed 828 litres of milk with 50 punnets of blended strawberries, 48 litres of strawberry ice-cream and a quantity of milkshake flavouring to create a grand total of 911 litres of milkshake, thus setting the new world record for the Largest milkshake, according to the World Record Academy.

The county's clubs teamed up to create the world's biggest milkshake. Using milk from Wells Farm Dairy at Bradley, ice cream from Haughton's Red Lion Farm and strawberries and raspberries from the Busby family's nearby fruit farms, they concocted a whopping 911.2 litre milkshake.

The Guinness World Records world record for the Largest milkshake was set by The Comfort Diners, Parmalat USA, and the American Dairy Association, which made the world's largest milkshake with a volume of 22,712.47 litres (6,000 US gal.) in New York, USA on 1 August 2000.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Greatest milk yield by a cow – lifetime; it is 216,891 kg (478,163 lb) as verified from the production certificate dated 27 February 2012. Smurf is a Holstein cow owned by La Ferme Gillette Inc. Dairy Farm (Canada) in Embrun, Ontario, Canada.

The world record attempt took place at the Staffordshire County Show and was partly designed to raise awareness about falling milk prices paid to farmers.

The idea was the brainchild of Abbotsholme YFC, based at Abbotsholme School, near Rocester, where the club meets every Tuesday after school.

The Guinness World Records record for the biggest ever milkshake was set in the USA in 2000. While that stands at more than 22,000 litres, it was produced in a milk tanker, rather than a single vessel.
