Largest house made of beer coasters - world record set by Sven Goebel

VOGELSANG, Germany -- Sven Goebel, 21, used over 300,000 coasters to create a beer coaster house, which was partially furnished with armchairs, a table and a fireplace - setting the new world record for the Largest house made of beer coasters.

The previous Guinness world record for the Largest house made of beer coasters stood at 70,000 beer-mats.

The young German designer spent 6-8 hours every day, seven days a week, adding up to 1,000 beer coasters, daily, to complete his delicate masterpiece.

Goebel proved that nothing, but static was holding the coasters in place.

He proved this by pulling a piece of string and tapping his foot a couple of times to bring the thousands of cardboard coasters crashing down, after taking hours to build the house. No glue was used or any other substance.

Goebel said: "Well, I kind of already was sure of the record. "Today we only collapsed it all to finally prove that no glue was used and this is the last step to the record. But I was sure of it before, so I don't have this feeling of 'Wow'. "Now I am just relieved it fell like it was supposed to and that I no longer have to be extra careful."

Goebel has been working on his record since the start of the year. He added an average of one thousand coasters per hour to his growing house.

The house was even partly furnished with armchairs, tables and a fireplace, all made from coasters.

More than a quarter of a million beermats were used during the record attempt. Goebel worked for six to eight hours, every day for nearly four months.
