  Largest umbrella: China breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

   BEIJING, China -- A company in China's eastern province of Jiangxi has manufactured the world's largest umbrella; the 14.4 meters (47.2 feet) high umbrellas have a diameter of 23 meters (75.5 feet) when opened; it open and shut like conventional umbrellas, weigh 5.7 tons and sets the new world record for the Largest umbrella, according to the World Record Academy.

  The Guinness World Records' record for the largest umbrella dance consists of 1,688 participants and was achieved at an event organised by Tottori city (Japan) in Tottori, Tottori, Japan, on 14 August 2014.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest umbrella; it measures 17.06 m (56 ft) in diameter and is 10.97 m (36 ft) tall and was made by Max New York Life Insurance (India). The umbrella was unveiled at Ishanya Mall at Pune, India, on 14 August 2010. The umbrella weighed 2200 kg (4850 lb).

     The earlier Guinness World Records world record was held by umbrellas manufactured in the Indian city of Pune in 2010 that measured 17.06 meters (around 56 feet) in diameter.

   The Chinese umbrellas, that open and shut like conventional umbrellas, weigh 5.7 tons and can be seen in Xingzi locality.

   The 14.4 meters (47.2 feet) high umbrellas have a diameter of 23 meters (75.5 feet) when opened.    Available in lively red, blue, yellow and green colors, the umbrellas have been recognized as the largest in the world.
