  Largest mustache: Minnesota breaks Guinness World Records record

  CLOVER RIDGE, MN, USA -- Matthew and Krista Udermann add the world's largest mustache to the list of Minnesota's world largest things; sitting in the front yard of their Clover Ridge home in Chaska is a nearly 12-foot wide, bright red, handlebar mustache which sets the new world record for the Largest mustache, according to the World Record Academy.

  The Guinness World Records' record for the longest moustache measures 4.29 m (14 ft) and belongs to Ram Singh Chauhan (India). It was measured on the set of the Italian TV show "Lo Show dei Record" in Rome, Italy, on 4 March 2010.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of men with moustaches; it was achieved by 1,131 participants at an event organised by KARE-11 TV at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, on 26 November 2010.

    They settled on the mustache because they liked the connection to the city's history. "The brickyard workers all had handlebar mustaches," said Matthew.

   The printing took more than 300 hours. The mustache is actually six separate pieces joined together. It features a honeycomb interior designed to reduce the weight and the amount of plastic used.

    The public is welcome to come out and get their photo taken with the mustache -- which was recently moved to the front yard.
