  Largest indoor theme park: Dubai breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)
   
   DUBAI, UAE -- IMG Worlds of Adventure, an amusement park that cost more than $1 billion dollars and took three years to build, opened its doors to the public; the park is as big as 28 football fields, measuring some 1.5 million square feet in size, thus setting the new world record for the Largest indoor theme park, according to the World Record Academy.

 
 Dubai opened IMG Worlds of Adventure, the world's largest indoor theme park, as part of an effort to attract 20 million tourists to the city each year by the time it hosts the World Expo in 2020. The IMG Worlds of Adventure stretches across a whopping 1.5 million square feet – the equivalent to 28 football fields - and is home to some of the craziest, roller coasters and attractions.

 The Guinness World Records world record for the largest parking lot can hold 20,000 vehicles and is situated at the world's largest shopping and entertainment centre, West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. There are overflow facilities on an adjoining lot for 10,000 more cars.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Largest automated parking facility, set by The Emirates Financial Towers in Dubai, UAE, which has an automated parking facility that can store 1,191 cars and occupies a net internal area of 27,606.14 m² (297,150 ft²). The modular parking system is capable of multiple, simultaneous rapid pallet movements and is programmed to control a peak capacity of 360 cars per hour.


    Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Makotum opened IMG Worlds of Adventure, the world's biggest family and leisure indoor park, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

   It includes four zones themed around Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley Dinosaur Adventure and IMG Boulevard with several roller coasters and other rides.

   "We wanted this to be an icon for Dubai itself and an icon for the region," says Lennard Otto, CEO of IMG Worlds of Adventure. "And opening the world's largest indoor theme park seemed very fitting for this market."

    The park is air-conditioned to attract visitors even during Dubai's sweltering summers.

    Dubai is already home to the world's tallest building, artificial islands, and the world's first hotel with a rainforest.
