Largest rice field mosaic: Japan breaks Guinness World Records record
TOKYO, Japan -- A large artwork on a rice paddy using seven kinds of rice plants of varying colors, in Gyoda, Saitama Prefecture, is 165 meters wide and 180 meters long at its longest edge, setting the new world record for the Largest rice field mosaic,
according to the World Record Academy.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest bean mosaic measures 430.18 m² (4,630.41 ft²), and was created by Tokachi - Sekaiichi Project (Japan) at Nakasatsunai village, in Tokachi, Hokkaido, Japan, on 8 March 2015.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest grain mosaic; it measures 500 m² (5,381.93 ft²) and was created by Alkent Pozhegu (Kosovo), in Gjakova, Kosovo, on 30 May 2014.

The Committee for Promotion of Rice Cropping Experience through Rice Field Art, comprising of the municipal government and local farmers, began annual attempts at rice paddy art in 2008, The Yomiuri Shimbun reports.
The artwork is best viewed until mid-October. From the observation room of the Kodai Hasu Kaikan (Ancient lotus hall) standing next to the paddy field. Entrance fees for the hall are ¥400 for high school students and older and ¥200 for primary and middle school students, but the prices have been halved until Oct. 4 in celebration of being put on the world-record list.
