  Largest flag mural: Robert Wyland breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)
   
   DESTIN, FL, USA -- The mural atop Legendary Marina's boat storage facility in Destin, Fla., painted by world renowned artist Robert Wyland, measures 3.8 acres in size, or 554 feet by 299 feet, thus setting the new world record for the Largest flag mural, according to the World Record Academy.

    The Guinness World Records world record for the largest permanent coin mural depicts the flag of the Republic of Korea, consists of 110,000 10 won coins, measures 24 m² (258.33 ft²) and was made by Jin Jeonggun (Republic of Korea) in Seoul, Republic of Korea, on 16 April 2008.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people waving flags is 56,618, achieved by Punjab Youth Festival 2014, organized by Sports Board Punjab at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan, on 1 March 2014.

     The flag, which was originally painted in 2004 at Legendary Marina in Destin, Fla., near Eglin Air Force Base -- one of the largest in the world. In 2015, the mural was expanded and dedicated to the U.S. military and first responders.

    "When we painted the first flag in 2001, it was only painted on the north end of the roof," Peter Bos, Legendary's owner. "Impressive as it was, I wished we could have done more to show our appreciation to all those that keep our nation and ourselves safe and free."

    The flag was brought to life by Wyland, the Wyland Foundation, Legendary and Sherwin Williams.
